Parking signs

Reading the parking signs

Every OPARKO site is clearly signed so you know the terms before you leave your car. Here is what to look for.

In short

Every OPARKO site is signed. The entrance sign says what kind of parking it is and who runs it, and the signs inside set the rules. They apply the moment you drive in.

What the signs tell you

Start at the entrance sign

A clearly visible sign at the entry and exit points names the type of parking (private, paid, or time-limited) and who manages the site.

Read the terms inside the area

Signs within the lot set out the conditions: opening hours, maximum stay, whether payment or a permit is required, and where you may park.

The terms apply from the moment you enter

By parking you accept the posted conditions, so it is worth reading them first. Signs are placed to be easy to find as you enter and park.

The three kinds of OPARKO site

The entrance sign tells you which one you are on.

Private parking

Reserved for permit holders or specific users. Parking without a valid permit can lead to a fee.

Paid parking

Open to anyone who pays for the time they stay, by QR code, SMS or number plate.

Time-limited parking

Free for a set period. Some sites ask you to register your arrival, and the sign tells you how.

A quick check before you walk away

  1. 1

    Read the entrance sign

Confirm the type of parking and who manages the site.

  2. 2

    Check the limits

Look for the maximum stay and whether payment or a permit is needed.

  3. 3

    Note where you may park

Some bays are reserved or marked for specific users.

  4. 4

    Keep your proof

Your receipt or permit is your evidence if a question ever comes up.

Common questions about signs

Which terms apply if the signs have changed?

The signs posted at the time you park are the terms that apply, so it is worth a quick read even at a familiar site.

Do I have to register if parking is free?

Only if the sign says so. On some free-but-timed sites you register your arrival, and the sign explains how.

What if a sign is missing or unclear?

Take a photo and email hello@oparko.com. Clear signage is part of running a fair site, and we want to know.

Are you a parking operator?

Clear signage and fair terms are built into every OPARKO site.
